Diana Bliss – Interim Commodore
2023 Annual Report
Assumed duties from April to October, because the elected person had to step down due to family issues. I led SDSC meetings, contacted board members about upcoming newsletter articles, assisted and coordinated various sails, investigated another winter meeting place to start in Sept, and general coordination of all Salty Dog activities, events, and sailing coordinators.

Melissa Stiener – Treasurer
2023 Annual Report
Club’s 2023 financials beginning 12/01/2022 (my first day as Treasurer) through 11/08/23. The Profit & Loss report does not break down our Sailing Events with the detail on each sail – it only shows the total by category (i.e. Day sails, Meeting sails, and Multi-day), so I have attached a supplemental report “Sales by Item,” which is a detailed listing of all the Club’s income-generating events.
The Profit & Loss report I received from Brooke for calendar year 2022 included data from 1/01/22 through 11/30/22 (Brooke’s last day as Treasurer). It showed a profit of $376.69.
- Our checking account balance as of today is $2899.91.
- $2200 will disappear in March 2024 when our insurance policy is renewed.
- The current balance does not reflect any 2024 renewal dues payments, with the exception of 1 single’s early renewal payment I received at our October monthly meeting.
NO MORE VOUCHERS WILL BE GIVEN
If a sail is cancelled for whatever reason, the participants who have already paid will receive a check from SDSC treasurer. Thank you for your cooperation.
Ron Vasquez – Membership Coordinator
2023 Annual Report
We ended up with a membership of 58, down 2 from last year. I kept a roster with 3 different categories: a general membership list of names, addresses and other contact information, a list of boat owners with information about their boats, and a list of each member’s emergency contact info in case of accidents while boating. Those later 2 lists should be given to the On the Water chairman, so they can be made available to the various outing coordinators. The first list, with its updates, needs to go to the Newsletter (Dog Tales) editor. The Webmaster had set it up that I got a copy of all payments made through the website which made it easy for me to know when people’s dues were paid online. I contacted all new members as well as a few people whom other members referred to me for possible membership. As in previous years, we’re offering a $5 per person discount for those who pay their 2024 dues before the new year.
Please remember to renew your membership.
Application forms and credit card payments can be found on www.saltydog.org. The application needs to be filled out completely with signatures on BOTH pages. Contact Ron at Membership@saltydog.org before the end of the year.
Reminder about Early Renewal dues for 2024 (deadline=12/31) to receive a Couple’s discount of $10 ($85 vs $95) and a Single’s discount of $5 ($50 vs $55).
Diana Bliss – On the water Coordinator
2023 Annual Report
Even though we only had five Denver boat owners, we still managed to run 10-day sails and three weekend sails. We had to two canceled sails one cause July 1st was close to holiday, and scavenger hunt had only two crew. I think adding Granby weekend sail to the schedule was exciting and something new for members. A couple of sails needed to be re-scheduled because of bad weather. Because we only had five Denver boat owners, I changed the duties of the On the Water coordinator to be responsible for getting the boats for sails lined up way ahead of time. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to boat owners—Cindie Sandlin, Micheal Smith, Mike Cranna, Bob Brand, Cliff Randal, Brooke and Larry Moreland, Zeke Zebauer, and Jim Watson.

Salty Dog Sailing Club Details
The Salty Dog Sailing Club, Inc. is a Colorado nonprofit organization composed of couples and singles interested in sailing and socializing with others who share their love for the sport. Boat owners and non-owners are welcome!
The Club plans about a dozen sails each season, including day and weekend sails at nearby lakes. Special three-day holiday trips often include Lake Granby or Pueblo Reservoir in Colorado, Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, or Glendo Reservoir in Wyoming.
Salty Dog members have also organized charter sails in the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Greece, and France. Aside from sailing, we have a variety of fun dry land activities throughout the year.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, except for November, and December when there are banquets and special parties. Beginning in May, regular club meetings resume at the Chatfield Marina. Rendezvous at the Seagull (Chatfield Marina) Restaurant around 17:30 – 18:00 for socializing with other members and to order dinner. A brief meeting will follow with the goal of being on the water by 19:00.
