Commodore’s Log Marilyn Allen
Ahoy, Salty Doggers!
It is that time of year again.
Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for November 14 at Piccolo’s.
This is when we review the past year and vote for next year’s Board of Directors. This
group of volunteers is responsible for the general operations of the Club as well as
their individual positions. If you love the club and want to make it better, this is your
chance. If you feel things could be done better…..well, this is your chance too.
While there are six current members definitely willing to remain on the Board and one
position undecided, all positions are open to re-election. Please note that both Vice
Commodore and On the Water positions are open. These are really important positions
and the club can’t run with out them. We’re hoping to keep Dave as our wonderful
Web Master, but for personal reasons, he can’t commit quite yet.
I encourage you to think seriously about supporting your club and serving in a Board
position. It’s fun and creative and a great chance to know other club members better.
Plus, you get to do some things you’d really like to do with the club! If you would like to
put your name in the hat or have any questions, please call or email me:
commodore@saltydog.org .
I’m remembering some of the fun events I’ve enjoyed with the club this summer:
2 multi-day trips to Dillon, a long weekend at Lake McConaughy, several day sails, plus
invitations to events sponsored by our other local clubs, like the Lake Grass festival put
on by CSYC (blue grass, shrimp boil and sail boat racing). Through the Salty Dogs, I’ve
also been given opportunities for longer charters – Sailing from Barrington RI to
Martha’s Vineyard last September, 5 days sailing near Antiqua, a great week on Lake
Michigan and an upcoming trip to the Caribbean this spring. All great times as a result
of Salty Dogs friendships and connections.
Although the sailing season is winding down, there are some fun events coming up
courtesy of our Dry Land Coordinator (see events in another part of this newsletter), a
fun Holiday Party, and there’s still a month of sailing left on Cherry Creek and Dillon.
Feel free to drop me an email if you’re available for October sailing.
See you all at the October meeting.
