Commodore’s Log Marilyn Allen
Greetings Sailors,
I hope you are all looking forward to our Holiday Party, as I am. Our party planner extraordinaire, Andrea Lewis, has great professional entertainment in store for us, so be sure to mail in your check for a reservation or pay online. The party will be at Piccolo’s starting at 6 PM on December 14. Cost for dinner and entertainment is only $25/pp. Need more details? Check our web site under Events.
We had our annual meeting on November 14 for election of officers and Board Member’s reports. Results of the elections are pretty much the same group as those who served the club last year with one new addition: Larry Moreland will be our Secretary. Other board members are:
Commodore – Marilyn Allen
Vice Commodore – OPEN AND WE NEED SOMEONE TO FILL THIS POSITION
Treasurer – Brooke Moreland
On the Water – Gary Kieft
Membership – Ronni Wilcox
Webmaster – Dave Westfall
Secretary – Larry Moreland
Newsletter Editor – Ira Greenberg
Dry Land – Andrea Lewis
Hopefully, at our January meeting, someone will step up to fill the Vice Commodore position.
At the November meeting we discussed the possibility of arranging a couple of Salty Dog charters in 2020 in addition to our usual club sails. We have an interest list going and will look into that more next year.
Hope to see you all at our upcoming party.
Marilyn Allen, Commodore
Vice Commodore’s Log Kathy Hug
Hi Salty Dogs!
I’m not ready for it yet, but we are into the holiday season already. I hope to see everyone at the Holiday Party on December 14 at Piccolo’s Restaurant located at 3563 S. Monaco Pkwy. If you haven’t yet sent in your reservation, HURRY, time’s running out and you don’t want to miss it.
After the holidays, our next meeting will be at Piccolo’s on January 9. If you have a cool sailing story burning a hole in your brain, contact me and I can make you famous. Salty Dogs would love to hear of your adventures and benefit from your knowledge.
By February, we are all in need of a little comic relief. Landlubbers is a fun way to recognize and roast our fellow sailors. If you have a funny story about a sailing misadventure, I’d like to hear it. A one-meeting committee to work out the details and create awards can be scheduled. This is also a time to recognize the special contributions of our fellow members. Be thinking of the folks who have planned events, been especially helpful to boat owners, or are just all-around great Dogs.
Dick and I will be at the Christmas Party, so find us there ready to hear your ideas!
Thanks!
Kathy Hug, Vice Commodore
On the Water Log Diana Bliss
For the sailing season 2019, we had a total of 7 day sails and 4 multi-day sails. This was slightly down from last year but considering that Chatfield, our home lake, wasn’t open until July 1st, and limited boat owners and Why Buy Owners.
This affected our operation of day sails and having membership meetings.
Thanks to the loyal sail coordinators who pulled off the sails we did have. They were Melissa S., Blair O., Ray M., Lori C., Dave W., Diana B, John V., Gary K., and Marilyn A.
We will be in need of new people stepping up to lead day sails for next year. Financial Guidelines and Policies were updated this fall and will need to be presented to new coordinators for next year.
In summary, considering we had no home base, Chatfield, for half the summer we did manage to get out sailing this past summer.
