Volume 42 Issue 4 – April 2023
Neisha Atchley – Commodore
“Sailing unties the knots in my mind.” Al Noble
I had the opportunity to travel in the west and southwest part of our state in March and all I saw was snow. Valleys full of snow, mountains covered in blankets of snow. My mind turned to how beautiful this spring will be. Us, Salty Dogs, look to the snow as an indicator for our lake levels in anticipation of the sailing season. Our water levels look to be better this year.
I had a family emergency and crisis unfold in March and I appreciate all the heart felt words from everyone. I thought about how when a boat starts heeling beyond what the helmsman is comfortable with, let go of the main sail is what I was taught. I thought about that advice as it applied to my family’s situation. To let go of things that weren’t essential, to be flexible as plans changed by the hour.
Sailing unties the knots in my mind has never felt truer for me. I look forward to returning to the water, the wind, Salty Dog friends.

PUEBLO SAIL – FRIDAY, JUNE 2 THROUGH SUNDAY, JUNE 4
Please join us for another great weekend at the Pueblo reservoir. We have 3 boats this year and the Club has reserved 3 slips for both Friday and Saturday evening. Weather permitting will be sailing on Saturday and Sunday.
Everyone participating is on their own for breakfast and lunch for both days of sailing. Friday night is the potluck dinner at the campground — bring your own meat to grill and a side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share, also BYOB. The Club will provide the paper products for dinner. For Saturday night’s dinner we’ll be at the Shamrock Brewing Company in downtown Pueblo.
Cost to attend is $120 per person for members and $180 per person for guests. Reservations will be first-come/first-serve. You will be able to register via the Salty Dog website once it is posted, or you can bring a check to the April monthly meeting.
