Frequently Asked Questions |
Do I have to have sailing experience? |
No, just an interest and a desire to do more sailing. |
Will Salty Dogs teach me to sail? |
Salty Dog Sailing Club does not offer classes but most Captains
enjoy sharing their knowledge, and will allow members to take
the helm. There are several good sailing classes offered in
the Denver area through Victoria Sailing School, The Anchorage,
or local Parks and Recreation classes. |
What does an event cost? |
The donation varies from no cost to about $45 for a three
day holiday weekend trip to Pueblo or Lake Granby. The greater
expenses are for reserving campsites and transporting the boats
a greater distance. |

What are
the advantages of a boat owner belonging to the Salty Dog Sailing
Club? |
The Club
was started by boat owners who wanted to form new friendships
and find new crew. We now have about 100 members with about
half owning boats. There are other advantages for boat owners,
such as reimbursement for trip expenses based upon length of
trip and size of boat. |

What is
a "Trip Coordinator"? |
A Trip
Coordinator is a volunteer who organizes and coordinates an
event. The coordinator does not pay the trip donation. An individual
who coordinates three or more events in a season receives a
free membership for the next year. There are usually two coordinators
for longer, three day trips. |
Are renewal
memberships lower cost? |
Yes, because
renewals do not receive a T-shirt. Members may buy new shirts,
and other items specially made for the club, for a reasonable
cost. |
